I am not quite sure why I am linking to this story.
I'm not. But I read it. And well it made me think about a couple of things and a couple of people and well, I think we will leave it at that, shall we?

Please explain to me why everyone confesses
Tony Hawk was on last night's episode of CSI: Miami. How cool is that? I still hate David Carusa. And I always think that if I were a defense attorney I would have to hit these people who confess when confronted by, at best, circumstantial evidence and always even give away motive and/or pre-meditation. Who are these stupid criminals?

Have I mentioned this year how fab Crooked Timber is?!? Look Susanna Clarke is on it. Even cooler than Tony Hawk getting murdered in Miami.

Actually sent to me by somebody at work
Just wanted to make that clear. In case anyone wanted to cast aspersions on me for making fun of my host country. I like what happens when you hit the 'arse' link.

Oh and thanksgiving went well. I got to use the two most dangerous kitchen tools. The mandolin of death (to make potato gratin) and the blow torch to carmelise my lemon creme brulees. I was quite the bourgeous American and all the recipes (except the spicy pumpkin soup which comes from epicurious) came from one of my favorite over-priced kitchen shops. Though I shouldn't say that, I got a great set of nesting bowls there years ago and it is still one of the best things I have ever bought for the kitchen. And now that you can buy white peach juice in my new opened and exciting tescos (have I mentioned my weakness for their incredibly cheap cashmere jumpers?), this year's holiday cocktail is the bellini.

I've lost my muse. No, seriously. This is where I have to admit sad, friendless, geek tendencies. I belong to an internet rolepaying game. No, I am not going to tell you which one. Or what bad sci-fi/fantasy novels it is based on. Nope. I am keeping my dignity (or a little bit of my dignity intact, thank you very much). And well, I havne't been writing there either. And I have commitments I am supposed to be making. So, I'm not writing there. I am not blogging here. Its all gone wrong. Even the new exciting computer at home doesn't make writing seem attractive.

And actually, a new problem has emerged. The Blessing has discovered The Sims. Notice it isn't even The Sims2. This morning, as I was getting dress, she appeared in the bedroom to ask if we could start up the game and buy some furniture. It is a bit too complicate to play all on her own. So if she is awake, I am supposed to be on the computer, building castles, letting her decorating tastes run wild. Its all a bit disturbing.

Just like the state of nature, nasty, brutish and short...I was always fond of the nickname 'Craxi'...Sometimes I cook, sometimes I tend bar, sometimes I even knit. Mostly I try not to read the plethora of government publications that cross my desk and write one page summaries.
favorite food: lobster. ben and jerry's ice cream
favorite show: CSI
favorite drink: grey goose vodka (with ice, it doesn't need anything else)
age: far older than I like to admit/contemplate
